Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Is Voice as reliable and accurate as fingerprints?
A. Voice can be equally reliable and accurate as fingerprints, however, it is the only biometric that can be utilised remotely.
Q. What happens if your system is hacked and my voiceprint is stolen?
A. In the process of recording a voice, unique features of the voice are extracted and stored in a non-reversible format. The process is one-way; therefore it is impossible to re-create the human voice in the unlikely event that the data is illegally accessed.
Q. Can an imposter get access to my account?

A.There are numerous features in place to prevent this – these are detailed below:

• The replay attack feature detects recordings
• The prompting of random numbers in certain circumstances guards against recordings
• You receive SMS notifications in the event that anyone successfully or successfully verifies against your ID number
• If an imposter were to verify against your account, the new password is sent to your cellphone and not to theirs

Q. Can someone gain fraudulent access to my account by mimicking or recording my voice?
A. Each person’s voice is unique and the latest technology is able to differentiate subtle differences or identify recordings. In addition, various techniques are used to thwart any imposter attempts e.g. SMS notifications, random digit prompting.
Q. Can identical twins be differentiated by their voice?
A. In the majority of cases, the biological & behavioural characteristics of twins are subtly different even though they appear and sound the same to the human eye and ear. The latest technology and techniques are able to detect these differences.
Q. How do colds or allergies affect voice verification?
A. Colds and allergies do not affect the ability to verify a voice using the latest technology. Only extreme vocal conditions such as laryngitis could prevent the system from recording/verifying the person’s voice.
Q. What happens as I age and my voice changes?
A. A person’s voice does change over time but the technology is able to accommodate for this.
